Mental Health Well Being Community Literacy

Mental Health Program provides one-to-one support to individuals from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds (CALDB) to address mental health problems and mental illness.(Information is available in different languages, click on "Read More" below)

The Well-Being Program delievers innovated and creative community education on mental health to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Background (CALDB). Harmony Place also offers two projects: Literacy for Life and African/Multicultural Peer Mentoring Project.

Welcome to Harmony Place

As a non-government organisation (NGO), the Multicultural Centre for Mental Health and Well Being Inc., Harmony Place™ is unique. It is the only service of its kind in Queensland, and one of only a few such organisations in Australia and internationally. The uniqueness of Harmony Place is that most agencies supporting multicultural mental health needs, including non-clinical support, in Australia are programs set up within Government Departments.

Harmony Place and its model of mental health service provision to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background people and communities sits alongside a number of non-government organisations within the multicultural and mental health sectors in Brisbane.

Our Vision

Our vision for Culturally and Linguisticall Diverse Background (CALDB) people is one in which communities are strong, proud and have the capacity to accept individuals with mental health issues and mental illness.

Our vision for CALD background people is that they:

  • Are aware of and understand mental health, mental health issues and mental illness
  • Have the capacity to recover from mental illness and maintain positive mental health
  • Have strong links to people and to places and can fully participate in their environment
